"My photography is about the eternal as opposed to the fleeting...
the meaningful in contrast to the insignificant. Where others
might only see an everyday face, I see a fate and transform it
into a timeless reality.
As a photo
grapher,
I am inspired by the faces that make up the mosaic of our human
family. I believe that a culture is most beautifully expressed
in the face of its people. I am drawn to the faces that so faithfully
echo their past...the men, women and children who personify the
traditions, heritage and day-to-day experiences of their particular
culture.
Most of my work is shot with a 4x5
or 8x10 view camera. Often, I 'll shoot medium format if I feel
it better suits the work. My phography is based in traditional,
silver-halide film. I hand-develop all negatives in my darkroom
and print final images to archival standards on fiber-based Gelatin-Silver
paper. This is a time and labor-intensive process, but it is
a bastion of traditional hand-work and quality, which I value.
